The Florida Venture Forum is now calling for outstanding private companies from the state of Florida to apply to present at the 2016 Florida Early Stage Capital Conference. The Florida Venture Forum is Florida’s premier organization focused on assisting entrepreneurs of emerging companies as they develop their businesses and raise capital. Companies wishing to submit an application to present at the 2016 Early Stage Capital Conference must apply online by filling out the PRESENTER APPLICATION below. The Florida Venture Forum does not accept hard copy submissions.
In partnership with Space Florida selected winning presenting companies have the opportunity to share a total of $150,000 in cash prize money.
IMPORTANT PRIZE ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION – PLEASE READ
Selected companies with a focus or technologies in one or more of the 11 commercial markets listed below as related to such companies expanding their use of space-based technologies, or developing technologies that have or may have space-related applications, will be eligible to compete for a total of $150,000 in prize money awarded by Space Florida. An onsite panel of judges will review each selected company’s presentation and supporting materials, and will select the top three companies on the day of the event. The awarding of prizes will be as follows: 1st Prize, $100,000; 2nd Prize, $30,000; 3rd Prize, $20,000, and the decision of the judges is final.
Space Florida Focus Commercial Markets
A company expanding its use of, or developing a new application of aerospace-based technologies, or a company developing technologies, practices or products that may have space-related applications within one or more of the following commercial markets: (1) Agriculture, Climate, and Environmental Monitoring, (2) Civil Protection and Emergency Management, (3) International Space Station and Human Life Sciences, (4) Communications, Cybersecurity, and Robotics, (5) Adventure Tourism, (6) Clean Energy, (7) Advanced Materials and New Products, (8) Space Transportation and Advanced Aerial Vehicles (e.g., UAVs), (9) Satellite Systems and Payloads, (10) Ground and Operations Support Systems for Spaceflight, and (11) Information Technology and Health Technology.
NOTE: Companies with operations and/or technologies that do not fit the above criteria are encouraged to apply to present, but may not be eligible to win the Space Florida awards. Companies will be notified of their eligibility upon acceptance.
Prize money will be awarded as follows: $100,000 for the Winner, $30,000 for 2nd Place and $20,000 for 3rd Place. Winners will be determined by an onsite judging committee and the decision of the judges is final. Presenter Applicants will be reviewed and companies chosen by a selection committee. All Florida-based early stage companies meeting the criteria are encouraged to apply. Selection committee reserves the right to request an in-person meeting with applicants before a final determination is made.
NOTE: There is a $50.00 Application Fee which will be applied to ONLY one discounted pre-registered Presenter Admission. Accepted presenting companies are encouraged to register at least two representatives from their company.
In addition to the application fee, selected Presenters are required to pay the registration fee to attend the Conference: $199 Presenter Registration Rate per attendee (less $50.00 application fee to be applied to ONLY one admission) and $25.00 for the required Exhibit Table. We also encourage you to attend the "Pitching to Investors" Workshop to be held May 16, 2016 at the Hilton Carillon Park, St. Petersburg, Florida. There is a $25.00 per person charge to attend, if pre-registered for the Conference. ALL companies, whether accepted or not, are encouraged to attend the Early Stage Capital Conference for networking, education and growth opportunities.
